Zentropa Copenhagen

Director: Thomas Vinterberg

A story about the clash between personal desires, solidarity and tolerance in a Danish commune in the 1970s.

The design for The Commune was a trip through Copenhagen of the 1970s. All interiors for the main setting of the story was built on a soundstage in Trollhattan, Sweden. We captured the lighthearted, curious and colorful atmosphere of the period and stayed true to the existential drama of the story.

The Commune was selected in Competition for the Golden Bear at the 66th Berlin Film Festival. At Berlin, Trine Dyrholm won the Silver Bear for Best Actress.
